New Blog, New Year

Today is New Year's Eve. Supposedly a chance for a new start. New beginnings. New resolutions. But I'm the Mom. So my day tomorrow will probably be the same as today, yesterday, the day before that and so on and so on. I actually never really know what the day will bring being a stay-at-home (I wish!), homeschooling karate mom of 2 girls. But I do have a new blog. I am very new to this. I only found out what a blog is recently when I was introduced to the Pioneerwoman.com by my aunt and cousin from Oklahoma. I was instantly addicted. Looking to her to brighten each day with her humor and irony.

Tonight we party like it's 2008! My girls and I (ages 8 and 5) are going to party hardy. We prepared ourselves for staying up until midnight by having a 2 hour nap. Soon we begin the feast! Hot dogs, pork-n-beans and s'mores. I did not pick the menu. Santa brought a ton of videos so we will try to watch a few and then we'll (hopefully) bring in the new year with hats, party blowers, poppers and sparkling grape juice. Dad will try to make it as well but he is working tomorrow so maybe not.

I'd like to say my partying has had to be toned down because I'm the Mom. But alas, the truth is that if I wasn't working the night shift I have always been tucked snug in my bed by midnight on New Year's Eve. I've never been a partier in general and especially on New Year's Eve. I'm much happier at home with a few of my favorite things. A good book, a hot cup of coffee and the people I love.

This will be a great New Year's Eve party.
